ABOUT HATCHWORKS

OUR OWN CHARACTER

Every co-working office has its own character. Connecting our members with one another and the Asheville community is the Hatchworks hallmark. Yes, we do have a bright, open space filled with natural light and plants. We do provide free local coffee and free downtown parking. We are centrally located in the South French Broad neighborhood. We do offer our members 24/7 access. And that’s a lot of great stuff!

But, building community both inside and outside our office walls is where our passion lies. As Asheville becomes home to more startups and tech businesses, and as remote work supplants company office jobs, we seek to provide a space where these workers and business owners can create a prosperous local economy together.

We don’t just want a rich community inside of Hatchworks, though. We work to help our members and their businesses plug into the Asheville and WNC community. That’s why we partner with nearly a dozen local organizations, including the Asheville Symphony Orchestra and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County to provide volunteer efforts, sponsorship, and promotional support. We want to help our members, many of them new to Asheville, connect with their community in a meaningful way.

It’s not all giving back, though. Other community partners such as Hatch Innovation Hub and Venture Asheville can help our member entrepreneurs connect with resources and scale their businesses to attract revenue!

EVENTS

WEEKLY AND ANNUAL EVENTS

Sitting next to someone all day while you both work diligently at your respective tasks doesn’t always connect you with them. To that end, we host several weekly and annual events to give members a chance to know one another. Our recurring events include:

  • Wine and cheese social hour
Occurring every Thursday, this event is open to Hatchworks members, day-pass users, and other Hatch-family businesses. It’s a fun, low-pressure event with tasty refreshments; but our members happily report that many beneficial and long-lasting business relationships begin here.
  • 1Million Cups
A weekly sharing event for startup businesses with the Asheville community that occurs nationwide. Network, enterprise, find capital, and connect with mentors and resources in our growing entrepreneurial community. We provide the coffee.
  • Food Truck Tuesday
Each Tuesday at lunch time, we book a food truck in the United Way parking lot across the street. This gives members a chance to eat together and try new local vittles.
  • Donut/bagel Fridays
Sometimes it’s donuts, sometimes it’s bagels, sometimes it’s unique regional baked goods from a member’s hometown or recent travels. We always have something yummy for members to gather around and munch on Friday mornings.

Aside from weekly events, we host holiday and other annual celebrations such as Hatch-o-Ween and a Thanksgiving lunch. Our personal favorite, however, is Hatch takes McCormick Field: We reserve a suite and a block of seats for Hatchworks members to eat, drink, watch baseball, and have fun with their families and coworkers!

COMMUNITY PARTNERS

OPPORTUNITIES, CONNECTION AND FUN

We’ve teamed up with the following local organizations to provide opportunities, connection, and fun for our members. Bonus: our members’ involvement helps these organizations thrive!

  • Hatch Innovation Hub
Brings together entrepreneurs and resources to help businesses launch, learn, and scale. Hatch Innovation Hub is the home of entrepreneurship in Western North Carolina.
  • Venture Asheville
Supports local entrepreneurship through mentorship, financing, and events.
  • Asheville’s Young Professionals (AYPROS)
Founded as an initiative of Hatchworks Coworking in January 2023, AYPROS was created with the mission to attract and retain young, creative talent to the Asheville region while also developing the next generation of leaders and enhancing Asheville’s sense of place.

  • Asheville Symphony Orchestra (ASO)
We partner with the orchestra to provide our members with discounted membership and volunteer opportunities. Our members’ efforts have revitalized ASO’s programming, and we’re so proud to count them as a close community partner.
  • Wortham Center for the Performing Arts
Our members enjoy discounted tickets to selected, diverse musical, cultural, and performance events at Diana Wortham, including some exclusive, invite-only events.
  • Blue Spiral 1
On the first Thursday of each month, when Blue Spiral 1 art gallery has their new openings, we move our wine-and-cheese social hour to the gallery.
  • Asheville Area Arts Council
The AAAC is an integral part of our local arts community, engaging in development and advocacy. Our sponsorship, volunteering, and promotion of their events create opportunities for Hatchworks members to engage with the arts community with purpose.
  • UNCA Bulldogs
We purchase season tickets and attend games together. This supports the university and gives our members a chance to hang out.

  • Asheville Tourists
We partner with the Tourists to bring our whole crew out to one game each summer, free of charge!
  • United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County
United Way collaborates with us to make Food Truck Tuesdays happen. We’ve been scheming with them to do more. Look for events and opportunities in the future.
  • Asheville Digital Nomads
This natural partnership involves event cross-pollination, creating a greater community of remote workers who otherwise may never cross paths.
